Speaking on Sunday at the launch of the Mahatari Vandan Yojana, a financial help program for eligible married women in Chhattisgarh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted that only the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fulfilled its ballot promise.
“Mothers and sisters, a lot of parties make huge promises prior to elections. They make grand promises, but only the BJP—a party with a definite agenda—delivers on its commitments. That’s the reason the Mahatari Vandana Yojana’s promise has been realized so quickly after the BJP government took office in Chhattishgarh, Mr. Modi stated.
During the campaign for the Assembly election last year, the BJP made a pre-poll pledge known as the Mahtari Vandan Yojana. Eligible married women in the State receive ₹1,000 per month as a direct benefit transfer under the plan. Seventy lakh people have benefited from the plan thus far, and the first payment installment of ₹655 crore was transferred on Sunday.

Women’s Welfare is Crucial
The Prime Minister emphasized that a healthy family is derived from the well-being of its women as she spoke via video conference to the beneficiaries assembled at the Raipur launch ceremony from Varanasi. He declared, “Our government is committed to ensuring every family’s holistic well-being, and this starts with the health and dignity of the women.”
Speaking of other government efforts, Mr. Modi mentioned that Ujjwala gas cylinders and pucca dwellings were being given to women in their names. Women hold the names of half of all Jan Dhan accounts and have benefited from 65% of the Mudra loans that are given out to help the poor establish small businesses.
The Prime Minister went on to say that during his administration, over 10 crore women from self-help groups had benefited, and over 1 crore women had become lakhpati didis. This is a reference to the recipients of a Union government program that trains women’s self-help organizations to establish microenterprises in their communities and generate a minimum of ₹1 lakh annually. The objective of helping three crore lakhpati didis was restated by Mr. Modi.
The Prime Minister also praised the initiatives of the Chhattisgarh administration, which is led by Vishnu Deo Sai, including authorizing the construction of rural dwellings that had been put on hold and paying out ₹3,700 crore in paddy incentives.
